Groupe F. Dufresne
Groupe F. Dufresne is a third-generation family business founded in Quebec City in 1950 and employs nearly 800 people. It encompasses companies that operate in the convenience store sector, retail fuel sales, residential comfort, and transport logistics under various companies and trade names: Eko, Sprint, Milliplein, F. Dufresne, Pétroles Cadeko, Transport Norcité.
Our Story
Over 50 years ago, the Dufresne family—Fernand and Carmen, along with their 5 children, Pierre, Jacques, Louise, Lina, and Josée—settled on Rue des Frênes in the Limoilou neighborhood of Quebec City. More than just a family home, the residence also housed a business in the basement where heating oil was sold. Over the years, the business thrived, giving rise to a great family story...
The company was founded by Mr. Fernand Dufresne. This artisanal business began its operations distributing heating oil with a small tanker truck in the neighborhoods of Lower Town Quebec City.
The automatic heating oil delivery service is established.
The distribution radius is expanded due to new residential developments in the Ste-Foy, Charlesbourg, and Beauport areas.
Fernand's two sons, Pierre and Jacques Dufresne, join the company.
Creation of a maintenance and installation service for oil heating systems and construction of the headquarters in Quebec City.
Inauguration of the first EKO gas station in Loretteville, a suburb of Quebec City.
The network already has ten gas stations in the Quebec City region.
Acquisition of Gulf Canada's heating oil customers for the North Shore and South Shore regions of Quebec, allowing the company to double its revenue.
Business partnership with a national oil company, enabling the acquisition of forty gas stations in the Saguenay, Lac St-Jean, and Côte-Nord regions.
Launch of the MILLIPLEIN loyalty program.
Over one hundred thousand members have already joined the MILLIPLEIN program. F. Dufresne earns the Vision Trophy in the Visionary Company of the Year category.
Launch of an extensive renovation program for corporate gas stations.
Major expansion of the headquarters, doubling the area to accommodate additional staff.
Business partnership with a national oil company enabling the acquisition of twenty-five gas stations in the Gaspé Peninsula region.
Acquisition of a fuel distribution network consisting of 105 gas stations operating under the Sonerco and Axco banners, spread throughout the province.

Groupe F. Dufresne has entered the fast food industry with Topla! restaurants. The chain now includes 8 corporate restaurants and a central kitchen that sells, among other items, Topla! sauces in grocery stores throughout Quebec.
Pierre and Jacques Dufresne celebrate their 50th anniversary with the company!
Launch of the Sprint brand for Groupe F. Dufresne’s corporate convenience stores. Over $3 million is invested to convert and renovate the Group's corporate EKO convenience stores.
The third generation of Dufresnes (Jérôme, Pierre-Olivier, and Francis) takes over!
Groupe F. Dufresne, through its partnership with Suncor, is expanding its network in Quebec and New Brunswick under the Petro-Canada brand. After this transaction, the Quebec-based company becomes the largest Petro-Canada retailer and operator in the country with 180 stations. With the addition of these establishments, Groupe F. Dufresne's retail network totals 283 locations.
Groupe F. Dufresne continues its expansion in Quebec by welcoming the Amos-based company Les Pétroles Alcasyna into its network!
